Concrete Pump Operation Work-Based Programme Approved

The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) has approved the BCITO’s work-based learning programme to qualify concrete pump operators.

For the first time, workers in the concrete pumping industry will have access to a NZQA qualification. This will formally recognise the knowledge and skills required to become a professional concrete pump operator.

The approved programme leads to the New Zealand Certificate in Concrete (Specialist) (Level 4) with two new elective strands in:

  • Concrete Pump Operation (Line Delivery System)
  • Concrete Pump Operation (Boom Delivery System).

BCITO is preparing to launch the programme to the concrete pumping industry at the end of 2025. (Delayed to August 2026)

The NZCCA newsletter will update you on the details of the programme launch later in the year.
